Making a Donation
You can support Western District Health Service to provide the best in patient care by making a donation.
Western District Health Service relies on funding from donations, bequests and fundraising in order to meet the cost of upgrading equipment and infrastructure for quality patient care and service delivery.
The high quality of infrastructure we are able to maintain is due to the dedication of volunteers and benefactors who contribute so that others can experience the best possible standard of healthcare.
Through charitable giving, supporters of WDHS play a role in our efforts to build a larger and stronger Health Service, to meet the needs of our growing regional community.
Donations
Many Donors choose to support WDHS by making cash gifts, which provides an immediate and positive impact. All donations over $2 to Western District Health Service are tax-deductible and those of $20 or more are listed in the Annual Report. There are other suitable ways to acknowledge your generosity, which we are happy to discuss with you.
Unrestricted gifts (general donations) are especially valuable, providing flexibility to quickly purchase new equipment to improve the delivery of healthcare, or upgrade medical equipment, which has become obsolete or worn out.
Restricted gifts (targeted donations) benefit specific areas of the Health Service of your choosing. Funds may be designated to any of the WDHS campuses, or areas of healthcare that may be of personal interest to you.
We will be pleased to honour your request and ensure your donation is applied to a particular area of the Health Service.

Memorial Donations
An alternative to flowers at a funeral of a loved one is a memorial donation, which can be directed to the health service area of your choice, eg Palliative Care.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made at the family’s request and envelopes for this purpose are available from the Community Liaison Department at WDHS. Pease call us to arrange for these envelopes to be delivered prior to the funeral.
Bequest – Leaving a lasting legacy in your will
Many people, having made provision for their families, decide to support their favourite charities by leaving a bequest in their Will. Bequests can be designed to reflect your own specific desire to help a community, charity, group or individual beneficiary. As a donor, you can leave a percentage of your estate or a fixed dollar amount as a bequest.
Leaving a bequest to charity means you have the use of your funds or property during your lifetime, and leave part or all of your money or property to a charity after your death. You may choose to leave a particular asset or a specified sum of money to your chosen charity or charities, or you can leave a percentage of your total estate, or a percentage of the residue of your estate, which means that you can ensure family and friends are provided for as well as benefiting the charity of your choice.
You may choose to leave your bequest freely – “no strings attached” – so that the charity can apply the money to the area of most need. (Philanthropy Australia)
You may like to name Western District Health Service as a residuary beneficiary, leaving the Health Service what remains after specific bequests to loved ones are paid.
