Cancer & Dialysis Centre

Oncology Services

Oncology services are delivered from our modern, well-equipped unit located within the WDHS Cancer and Dialysis Centre, situated on the ground floor of the Western District Health Service (WDHS) Hamilton campus. The unit offers a comprehensive range of cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and supportive therapies, provided in a safe, comfortable, and patient-focused environment.

All treatments are carried out under the supervision of visiting oncology specialists in collaboration with our local physicians, ensuring that patients receive expert care close to home. Our service is supported by a team of dedicated oncology nurses and allied health professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care tailored to each individual’s needs.

Chemotherapy services are available Monday to Friday, with dedicated treatment days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Patients benefit from personalised treatment plans, regular clinical reviews, and coordinated care between local and metropolitan oncology teams.

In addition to clinical services, the Cancer and Dialysis Centre offers a wide range of information, resources, and emotional support for patients and their families. Support groups are available to assist patients, carers, and loved ones in navigating their cancer journey, fostering connection, understanding, and shared experience.

This integrated approach ensures that patients have access not only to advanced medical care, but also the holistic support they need throughout their treatment and recovery.

Take a Virtual Tour of our Cancer & Dialysis Centre

Comprehensive haemodialysis and renal medicine (nephrology) services are delivered from our modern, well-equipped facility located within the WDHS Cancer and Dialysis Centre, situated on the ground floor of the Western District Health Service (WDHS) Hamilton campus. This state-of-the-art unit serves as a satellite service of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (Melbourne Health), ensuring patients in the region have access to expert nephrology care without the need to travel to metropolitan centres.

The unit provides in-centre haemodialysis for patients with chronic kidney disease who require regular, ongoing treatment. This service is delivered in a supportive and clinically supervised environment by a team of experienced renal nurses and healthcare professionals.

In addition to dialysis services, renal clinics are held every three (3) months, staffed by visiting nephrologists from the Royal Melbourne Hospital. These clinics offer specialised consultation and management for a range of kidney-related conditions, ensuring continuity of care and timely access to specialist advice.

This collaborative approach between WDHS and Melbourne Health reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred renal care close to home, while maintaining strong links to tertiary-level expertise.

Consulting Suites

Western District Health Service (WDHS) Consulting Clinics is located within the Cancer and Dialysis Unit, enabling seamless access to a wide range of visiting medical and surgical specialists.

This integrated model of care allows patients to receive specialised treatment and consultations in a familiar, local setting—reducing the need for travel and supporting continuity of care.

By bringing together oncology, renal services, and visiting specialist clinics under one roof, WDHS is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred healthcare that meets the evolving needs of our community.
