The library provides services to staff across all campuses of Western District Health Service, medical staff on rotation and students on clinical placement.
It facilities access to a range of clinical resources including textbooks, journals and online full text articles. Journals are not for loan – notes or photocopies can be made. Staff can borrow any number of books for two weeks, with the option to extend for two more weeks if no-one else wants the book. Long term loans are available by arrangement. RMIT books are available on one week loan only.
Access to the Clinician’s Health Channel, MD Consult, Nurse Consult, Internurse, Intermid National Health and Medical Research Council Portal, Australian Standards and UpToDate are available. The librarian is able to assist with passwords for accessing databases, database searches, book purchases and inter-library loans for books and journal articles.
There are three computer stations and printer within the library all with the usual software including Word and Powerpoint. Staff may also access our Learning Management System and My WDHS. There is access to the internet and email. The Education Centre photocopier can be used for copying.
The librarian is available between 9.30am and 3.00pm. Access to the library is available outside this time upon request. Telephone and email enquiries are welcome.
