Oncology services are provided from a well-equipped unit co-located in the WDHS Cancer and Dialysis Centre on the ground floor of Western District Health Service’s Hamilton campus. The unit provides a comprehensive range of chemotherapy and other related treatments. Treatment is carried out under the supervision of local physicians in conjunction with oncology specialists in major centres. Chemotherapy is administered by nursing staff trained principally at Peter McCallum Institute.
Up to six clients a day can be catered for in a comfortable and relaxing environment. Information, support and resources for patients are available from the Cancer Link Nurse. Support groups are also run for patients and their families.
Referral: All patients are admitted by a medical practitioner.
