Local emergency and frontline service organisations are coming together to host a special community event celebrating the people who help keep the region safe, supported and connected.
The 2026 Emergency Services Ball will be held on Saturday 20 June 2026 at the Hamilton Exhibition & Conference Centre (HECC), bringing together emergency service personnel, healthcare workers, volunteers, support staff and members of the wider community for an evening of appreciation and connection.
The black-tie event has been organised collaboratively by local representatives from Western District Health Service (WDHS), Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria, and South West Healthcare Mental Health (Hamilton), with the aim of creating an inclusive event that recognises the many people who contribute to community wellbeing.
Committee organisers say the evening is about acknowledging the contribution of people across many different roles — from emergency response and healthcare to vital behind-the-scenes support services — while also creating an opportunity for the broader community to come together.
“This event is not a fundraiser, instead it is about celebrating our local people, acknowledging the work they do, and giving the community a chance to come together for something positive and memorable,” Emergency Services Ball committee chairperson John Hedley said.
Western District Health Service Chief Executive, Rowena Clift, said the Ball is an important way to recognise the dedication of frontline workers across the region.
“Our emergency services, healthcare teams and volunteers play a critical role in supporting our communities every day,” Ms Clift said.
“Events like this provide an opportunity to acknowledge their commitment and bring people together to celebrate the collective effort that keeps our communities strong, safe and connected.”
Guests attending the ball will enjoy premium catering by Speckled Frog Catering, an all-inclusive drinks package and live entertainment by a seven-piece band, all within a formal black-tie setting.
Importantly the event is open to everyone – not just those working in emergency or frontline services. Organisers hope the event will become a meaningful celebration for the region and encourage community members to attend this inaugural Ball.
