COVID-19 Update – 24 September

COVID-19 UPDATE 24-9-21 Comments from Chief Executive, Rohan Fitzgerald.

This week has reminded people in Hamilton of the need to be alert to COVID-19. Tonight’s announcement by South West Healthcare that there are a number of exposure sites in our region also reinforces the need to stay vigilant. Correctly wearing a face mask, regularly practicing hand hygiene, checking in with the Service Vic App and social distancing are now more important than ever.

It is also a great time to book in for a COVID jab at your local general practice, WDHS vaccination clinic or pharmacy. WDHS currently has Pfizer (dose 1 and 2) and Astra Zeneca (dose 2) available. Book your appointment at wdhs.net

There were no new exposure sites listed in Hamilton today. We had 72 people come through the mass testing clinic at the Hamilton Showgrounds, taking the total number of people tested this week to just under 700. A big thank you to the local community for coming out to get tested. Our pathology provider has processed almost 400 tests and we are pleased that all have returned a negative result.

Unfortunately WDHS has not received an update on the daily wastewater results for Hamilton, we will release these once they become available. I am grateful for the community’s patience and understanding as we work together during this challenging time.

From the entire team at WDHS, please take care and enjoy the AFL Grand Final Day in a COVID-safe way.
