Support at Home

We have the experience, skilled team and local services to support you to live independently at home for longer. Our reliable, locally based team works with you to provide the care and support you agree you need to live safely at home and stay connected to your community.

What is Support at Home?

On 1 November 2025, the Australian Government introduced a new in-home aged care scheme called Support at Home, which replaces the Home Care Packages (HCP) Program and the Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Programme.

If you’re eligible, services can be offered for the Support at Home (SaH) or the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).

Both programs support you to remain living at home safely and independently for as long as possible, offering choice and flexibility in how your care and services are planned and delivered to meet your needs and goals.

Existing Home Care Package (HCP) participants will automatically transition to Support at Home with your budget matching the existing HCP level of funding (including supplements). Your previous annual package amount will now be divided into four to create a Support at Home quarterly budget.

Accessing Support at Home

If you are new to aged care support services and would like to access the Support at Home program, you will need to register with My Aged Care and answer a series of questions about your situation and needs to determine your pathway to aged care services.

Fees and Charges

Support at Home services are funded through a mix of government funding (what the Australian Government pays) and, where applicable, contributions from you (the Participant). Your contributions are determined by a Services Australia assessment of your income and assets. Your contributions will differ based on the service being delivered and your assessed financial capacity to pay.

What you Need to Know

  • No upfront fees or savings are required because care is paid as you go, based on the services you receive.
  • Financial hardship provisions will be available if you can’t afford to pay.
  • You will always be told upfront what your contributions are and how they’re calculated.
