Permission from the CEO is required to have pets and there is no smoking inside the units. Assistance with general lawn, garden and building maintenance is provided by the WDHS Penshurst maintenance department, with tenants having responsibility for planting out and caring for their own garden or vegetable patch.

About Dunkeld

The town of Dunkeld is located at the southern edge of the Grampians National Park and the Great Dividing Range at the foot of Mount Sturgeon. It offers a bakery, cafes, retail shops, a gallery, historical museum, yoga retreat, and a racecourse. Dunkeld has a co-educational consolidated school. There are sporting clubs for cricket, tennis, and golf.

Nearby is the Dunkeld Arboretum, Dunkeld Memorial Park and there are many wonderful walks offering incredible views around the area.

Accessing Independent Living

Contact our Aged Care Placement Coordinator to discuss the eligibility criteria, the application and assessment process, and availability of an Independent Living Unit.

Provided you meet the criteria and there is an Independent Living Unit available they can arrange for you to view the property. You can be placed on a waitlist if no Independent Living Units are available at the time of application.

Fees and charges

Rental fees and charges for Independent Living Units are calculated based on an individual assessment and according to your circumstances. There are three rental fee options available.

Option 1: A Weekly Rental Fee Only
The rental fee is paid each month in advance and includes the maintenance fee. With this rental payment option there is no Capital Contribution, no Entry Contribution, and rent is indexed in January each year. No portion is refundable.

Option 2: Regular Non-refundable Capital Contribution and Weekly Rental Fee
This fee combination involves paying a Capital Contribution every six months in advance plus a reduced Weekly Rental Fee each month in advance. There is no Entry Contribution. The maintenance fee is included in each rental payment. The rental payment is indexed in January each year. No portion is refundable.

Option 3: Combination Entry Contribution and Minimum Weekly Rental Fee
The Entry Contribution is a minimum $10,000 payable one week prior to admission with the balance payable within six months. In addition, a reduced Weekly Rental Fee is payable each month in advance and includes the maintenance fee. The Weekly Rental Fee can be reduced by $1 per week for every $1,000 Entry Contribution over $26,000. A portion of the Entry Contribution is refundable every six months or part thereof to a maximum of $26,000 after 10 years of residence.
