Dorevitch Pathology is a leading provider of pathology services and has a long history and vast experience in providing pathology services to a wide range of clients including doctors, hospitals, both public and private, as well as a large number of commercial clients including government institutions, industry and correctional facilities.
Dorevitch Pathology provides services to over 70 private and public hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Services to community-based patients are provided via 400 approved collection centres and a network of 29 laboratories spread throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and southern New South Wales.
Dorevitch Pathology employs 50 pathologists with a wide range of specialties and expertise. This team includes general pathologists, and specialist pathologists in the areas of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Haematology, Anatomical Pathology, Cytology, Oral Pathology and Molecular Pathology.
Dorevitch Pathology operates a NATA accredited category B laboratory at HamiltonBaseHospital which operates core hours Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. Scientific staff provide an on-call service after these hours.
Dr David Clift is the pathologist responsible for overseeing the laboratory functions at Hamilton, and Denise Stevens is the Laboratory Manager. At the Hamilton Hospital laboratory Dorevitch Pathology has a team of dedicated scientific, collection and administration staff who are committed to providing an exceptional service to the Hospital and its medical practitioners. The majority of routine testing is performed at the local laboratory in Hamilton which ensures that results are provided promptly to referring practitioners. Specialised tests that are not performed at the Hamilton laboratory are transported overnight to the central laboratory in Heidelberg, Melbourne for testing.
The Hamilton laboratory is accredited by NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) which ensures that testing is performed according to recognized testing standards. NATA also assesses the laboratory quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy of testing. Collection of pathology samples is performed by appropriately qualified staff who are experienced in the full range of pathology collection procedures.
